Light in the Darkness – A Liturgy

Let’s face it.  There is a lot of pressure to make the holidays perfect.  The stores begin putting up decorations in October…and the commercials on TV talking about wrapping beautiful gifts and getting just the right toys.

But most of us – if not all of us – are missing someone, missing something, or just in general aren’t that happy.

Reality is far from the pretty picture of family and friends gathered around the extravagantly decorated Christmas tree and the piles of presents.

Last week the Stephen Ministers and Finding Hope & Healing ministries at Faith Presbyterian hosted a Community Service of Light.  For those interested in reading the service, or using it as a jumping off point to do your own, please see the below “script”.  A number of the resources used I found online, however the messages are personal creations. ( Please feel free to use the messages, but I would appreciate credit. Thanks!)

Service of Light Dec 2013 Faith Church Stephanie Friant

May this season be one of joy and light for it is Christ, not the culture, that defines our lives.

About SFriant

I live to walk with others on their journeys - because everyone needs to know that they are loved, that they matter, and that they are doing amazing things. I'm a lot like our two kids: obsessed with learning, and constantly creating.
