(This is an article written for Faith Church’s senior newsletter for March.)
I have to admit that life at Faith was a bit unusual during February for me! So thankful for getting back to a “normal” schedule and having a week off at Disney World with my husband, the kids and in-laws to clear my head.
Many of us are facing unusual times in our lives. Life is full of transitions, chaos, and unplanned events. It is something I’ve always known, but at Faith, I’ve come to expect.
I have also come to expect the power of prayer.
Prayer does many things, and one wonderful thing is that it clears our heads.
In prayer, we can lift up anything to God. We can hand it over to our Creator and Savior. We can reach out for a hand, a hug, or a listening ear. We can offer ourselves up, and in return our burdens become lighter and our breath becomes stronger.
Our lives do not always provide us an escape to places of magical dreams, but those places are only a temporary illusion.
Our lives do always provide us an opportunity to pray. Even when we do not have the energy or ability to form words, we can lift up our spirit toward God. Just a simple turning to our Lord can alter our lives.
In this season of Lent, as we watch for the last snow fall, let us be sure that we are turning to God in prayer.
