Time to Clean House

Our writing group’s assignment for today was to write about the meaning of Lent.  A Wise Woman in the group wrote an amazing piece after doing research on the topic.  Coming into Christianity after marriage and kids, her fresh perspective was evident and inspiring.  Leaving it to her to publish, I will only share one point that really stuck with me.

Lent is a time for spiritual spring cleaning.

My house – and car – quickly get out of hand as the kids and life move faster than the vacuum.  The to-do list is full of physical tasks of washing, cleaning, sorting…but rarely do I put my spiritual life, my relationship with God, on that list.

So, what are you doing for Lent?  Perhaps accessing your spiritual practices, making tweaks as necessary, or even starting up something new, would be a good place to start?  I encourage you to experiment and explore, finding the most meaningful and powerful way for you to be open to the Holy Spirit.

About SFriant

I live to walk with others on their journeys - because everyone needs to know that they are loved, that they matter, and that they are doing amazing things. I'm a lot like our two kids: obsessed with learning, and constantly creating.
